What Are Nail Fungus Infections?

Nail fungal diseases are also known by their medical name as onychomycosis. It is a fungal infection that can be seen as a white or yellow spot on the toenails and fingernails. It is a disease caused by a type of fungus called dermatophytes. These fungi, called dermatophytes, are mold and yeast fungi of the Candida species. It can cause changes in the shape of the nail, thickening, smell. It can cause changes in the shape of the nail, thickening, smell. It can also spread from one nail to another toenail. Nail fungus can be seen at any age.

How Is Nail Fungus Infections Treated?

After the necessary examinations, it carries out the treatment process of the disease by applying topical and/or oral treatment methods. It can occur due to many reasons such as vascular diseases, anemia, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid diseases, cancer drugs, infections, frequent use of chemicals in the nails. Accordingly, oral vitamin supplements or injections, additional nail-boosting vitamins may be prescribed. The patient is referred to the relevant doctor for the treatment of the disease that causes nail fracture disorders caused by diseases such as thyroid, vascular, etc.

Nail Inflammation

This disease, also known as nail wrapping, is a disease caused by a bacterium called streptococcus and/or staphylococcus. Inflammation of the cuticles around the nail may cause conditions such as redness, swelling and abscess. In these cases, the necessary examinations and physical examination are carried out and the treatment process is carried out with antibiotic ointments and oral antibiotic drugs.


Nail pricking occurs as a result of the nail extending towards the nail flesh. Redness, pain, swelling and even infection can be seen here. In these cases, the treatment process is carried out according to the course of the disease. More serious complications are prevented by methods such as removing a part of the nail, removing the entire nail or removing the tissue.
